Introduction
This document outlines how to install both the Linkly EFT Client and EFT Server software when using the Linkly IP Gateway as the primary link to the bank. It covers multiple examples of configuration, depending on the user's preference.
- First, Linkly EFT Software must be installed on the PC which will act as the server connecting to
the Linkly IP Gateway. Also, the server will require an internet connection - If you are installing EFT software on more than one PC, please record the Hostname and IP address of the server as this may be required for further setup. We typically recommend you use the Hostname as the IP Address can change
Prerequisites
Before you begin the installation of both the Linkly software and your EFTPOS terminal(s), you should ensure you have the following:
- The latest release of Linkly In-Store Software.
- If utilizing the Linkly IP Gateway, you must have a Linkly ID and Password.
(If you do not, please contact Linkly support). - An integrated EFTPOS terminal(s) provided by your bank.
- If utilizing the Linkly IP Gateway Internet connection (the server must not be connecting via
a proxy).
Components Installed with Linkly
The following section will describe some of the important components installed with Linkly and their functions.
EFT-Client
The Linkly EFT Client is the “Middleware” that facilitates the connectivity between the Point of Sale Software and Eftpos Terminal.
EFT-Server
The EFT-Server facilitates a connection to the Linkly IP Gateway and in turn a bank or host, allowing processing of transactions over the internet for supported Eftpos Terminals. For more information on EFT-Server configuration options, see section 2. Installing the software for Linkly IP Communications Gateway.

Linkly Installation and Configuration
The Linkly Software can be configured in multiple different ways:
- Linkly installation setup for Master Eft-Server
This will configure the Linkly installation with an Eft-Server running the Linkly gateway credentials - Linkly installation setup as Slave Eft-Server
This will configure the Linkly installation as an Slave, pointing to an Master Eft-Server running its own gateway credentials (choose this option if you already have an Master Eft-Server configured).
The following are some common scenarios and examples of different configuration options:
- A single POS terminal with a pinpad connecting to the Gateway.
- Multiple POS terminals with Pinpads, and a dedicated Master Eft-Server machine with no pinpad that connects to the Gateway for installing the software on additional terminals).

The steps below will outline how to setup the Eft-Server as either a dedicated or slave Eft-Server.
Caution:
The Linkly gateway credentials are unique and can only be used on one Eft-Server instance at a time. As a standard practice, it is best to setup a Linkly Eft-Server master on a per site basis running on the same network as the POS devices).
- From the ConfigWiz window, click on 'Next'.
- Click 'Auto Detect' to begin the search for connected pinpad devices and EFT master servers on your network. Once it is completed, you should see the name and IP address of your EFT Master. If your master server is not detected here, refer to the Eft-Server troubleshooting article, please click here. Click 'Next' to continue
- Select your bank and click on 'Next'.
- From the Auto detect earlier, the Com port should be populated, otherwise keep at the device 'USB' selection. We recommend selecting the 'USB' option unless you are using a SERIAL cable.
- Select 'Skip' on the EMS-Client step as this is not needed.
- There are two options to select on this step:
Choose 'Another PC on the Network' if you already have an Eft-Server setup on the local network (this should have been discovered when completing the Auto detect in Step 2).
If you choose this option, continue to the Step 7.
Choose 'Linkly IP Gateway' if you are setting up a master Eft server - either a dedicated master only or a master with client and pinpad. If you choose this option, change the 'Priority' drop down from low to high and then enter your Linkly gateway credentials (username and password) then select "Next', 'Next' and 'Complete' to finalise the Linkly configuration.
- Change the Priority dropdown from low to high. Check that the Address field contains the name of the master server detected in Step 2. Do not change the other fields and confirm by clicking 'Next' then 'Next' then 'Complete'
- The installation and configuration will be complete. The Linkly services will now start, and you should see the green S and C in the bottom right corner of your desktop (The System Tray).
